The Construction of the
Sir Adam Beck #2 Hydro Electric
Generating Station
a photo collection by Harold Fisher
The following collection of pictures
were taken by Harold Fisher in 1954 of the building of the Sir Adam Beck #2
Power Generating Station. He provides a unique glimpse into the construction of
the Sir Adam Beck #2 Power Generating Station, the forebay and the water
tunnels.
The photos are not professional by any means, simply Kodak shots that my Dad took out of interest for the project and his appreciation for capturing history. Dad was principal of Virgil School (Railroad Schoolhouse) off River Road between Queenston and Niagara-on-the-Lake and then took over the principalship of Brockview Public School when it was built. We lived on High Street in Lundy's Lane from 1948-1953 and lived on the Lewiston Road below Brock's monument from 1953-1958. Dad also drove a Greyhound tour bus in the summers picking up passengers off the Cayuga and touring them around the Falls. He had a keen interest in history and I believe he would have made history "come to life" for his passengers on the bus tours. I hope these pictures will be of some use. - Jean Denison (daughter)
Harold Fisher died at 73 years of age on September 23rd 1998.
